Mint Bourbon Arnold Palmer

DSC_0970

Sticking with our 4th of July theme, we didn’t want to get too crazy and present you with a red, white and blue cocktail or sparkling wine with a sparkler popping out of it. If you’re into that I would check Martha Stewart, she’s super crafty like that. I wanted to give you all a refreshing, grown-up favorite that will keep you cool because it looks like it’s going to be a hot one around the country. In case you do not know what an Arnold Palmer is — it is the perfect mix of iced tea and lemonade. Slightly tart, slightly sweet – most refreshing drink I can think of. So why not add in a lil’ bourbon and some fresh mint from the garden. Perfect just became even more perfect.

My tips: (1) brew the black tea stronger than you usually would because it tends to lose some flavor in the drink if it isn’t nice and strong. (2) Choose a sweetened lemonade or if the lemonade you are using isn’t too sweet, think about adding some simple syrup to keep the drink balanced.
