Mint Bourbon Arnold Palmer

Sticking with our 4th of July theme, we didn’t want to get too crazy and present you with a red, white and blue cocktail or sparkling wine with a sparkler popping out of it. If you’re into that I would check Martha Stewart, she’s super crafty like that. I wanted to give you all a refreshing, grown-up favorite that will keep you cool because it looks like it’s going to be a hot one around the country. In case you do not know what an Arnold Palmer is — it is the perfect mix of iced tea and lemonade. Slightly tart, slightly sweet – most refreshing drink I can think of. So why not add in a lil’ bourbon and some fresh mint from the garden. Perfect just became even more perfect.

My tips: (1) brew the black tea stronger than you usually would because it tends to lose some flavor in the drink if it isn’t nice and strong. (2) Choose a sweetened lemonade or if the lemonade you are using isn’t too sweet, think about adding some simple syrup to keep the drink balanced.

Mint Bourbon Arnold Palmer

Ingredients
  • 1 cup freshly brewed black tea, chilled
  • 2 cups sweetened lemonade, chilled
  • ½ cup bourbon
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint

Instructions
  1. Add tea, lemonade, bourbon and 1 sprig mint to a cocktail shaker. Add ice. Shake vigorously to combine and chill.
  2. Pour through a strainer, into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with another sprig of mint.

  1. I love this! I’ve been adding bourbon (or whiskey) to Arnold Palmers for years, but never thought about the mint. Thanks for the tip! It’s such a great summer drink.
